Youth takeover AquaFed to give a message to the international water community

03/04/2025

We had been asked by the World Water Council to make a video to summarize the key decisions made under the theme Water, Security and Prosperity, at last year’s World Water Forum in Bali. We saw it as a great opportunity to give the floor to some of the World Youth Parliament for Water members who took part in the Bali event's sessions:

- Teddy Katongo Chifumbano
- Megi Marku
- Duhitta Hayyuardhini
- Marta Zaragoza Navarro
- Alice Tilley
- Shaneica Lester

Each one of the young people featured have incredible stories of their own to tell, of what they are doing right now and how they are battling through adversity and lack of support to get progress made.

Their message is clear : youth participation and dialogue is not enough. They want the following from all the showpiece big sector events:
-   Creation of action driven partnerships where they can provide their solutions
-   Support to fund and scale their ideas
-   Structured internships and mentorships
-   Support to design projects for implementation

This means seeing these events not just as a moment in time, but ongoing processes of their own, with objectives going well beyond just convening the sector.

We hope the sector finally really listens to young people and takes action on the points above. As always, AquaFed is ready to help and we are already working up plans for these conferences that will contribute to the points above. If you are interested, let’s talk!

The video was due to be shown on February 28 2025 at an event in Jakarta, which was a follow up meeting to the Bali Forum and effectively when they baton gets handed to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
